This 'Orchard of Ladakh' is popular for its rich vegetation with an average altitude of about 10,000 ft. above sea level. Located 150 kilometers north of Leh, Nubra Valley is the place to enjoy nature at its very best. This valley of flowers provides picturesque landscapes and unparalleled trekking opportunities. Despite lying at a great altitude, Nubra is a relatively warmer valley. The place is filled with apricots throughout the year. One can spot a number of yellow and pink wild roses during early summers and countless wild lavender in August.
The picturesque landscapes of the Nubra Valley are nurtured by the River Nubra, is a tributary of the Shyok River (parallel to River Indus).
Major Attractions
The Samtanling Gompa
An ancient monastery with a wonderful collection of Buddhist idols, frescos and tangkhas (painted and embroidered scrolls).
Hot Water Sulphur Springs
Located in the village of Panamik, the springs are believed to have medicinal qualities that can cure several diseases.

350 year old Diskit Gompa (the oldest and the largest monastery in the Nubra Valley)

- Double Humped Bactrian Camel
- Khardung la Pass at 18,380 feet (highest motorable road in the world)
June to August is considered a good season to visit the Nubra Valley. The Campsite, near the river, is a nice option for accommodation. One can find a number of tents at the site, all well equipped with beds, dining table, washrooms etc.
J & K State Transport Corporation provides regular bus services from Leh to Diskit (150 km), as Diskit is the administrative headquarter of the valley.
