The very sight of this “Golden City” of Rajasthan put onlookers under a magic spell. Jaisalmer Fort or Sonar Ka Quila is one of the most beautiful attractions of Jaisalmer. It is located on Trikuta Hill overlooking the golden sand dunes. Its foundation was laid in 1156 by the Bhati Rajput ruler, Jaisal. The wonderful attractions inside the Fort are the Raj Mahal, Jain temples and Laxminath temple.
Havelis of Jaisalmer
The marvellous havelis of Jaisalmer are a testimony to its rich cultural heritage. The architectural beauty and luxury of the havelis are admired by tourists from across the globe. Patwaji Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli?and Nathmalji Ki Haveli are the most famous havelis of Jaisalmer. The fabulous stone work, paintings and carvings of these havelis are very impressive.
