Kufri


Once part of the Kingdom of Nepal, Kufri is a quaint and small hill resort near Shimla. Its panoramic views and poetic beauty courted attention when Shimla became Summer Capital of the British. Cool and salubrious climate, and great opportunities for hiking, trekking and other adventure activities makes Kufri special for adventure tourists. Excellent trails through thick forests take you to Mahasu Peak, the highest point in Kufri.

Skiing and tobogganing is quite popular here in winters. The peak tourism season at Kufri is from November to February. Visit to green reserves and Nature Parks in the region, and Pony and Yak rides make for some exciting activities for tourists at Kufri. At Himalayan Wild Life Zoo, you can see rare feline species, antelopes and birds such as Himalayan Monal, which also happens to be the state bird of Himachal Pradesh.

How to Reach Kufri
Easily accessible by road, Kufri is a quaint, small, and peaceful hill resort.

By Road: Connected to all the major cities nearby by a network of roads in good condition and regular bus services, Kufri is accessible from Delhi, Amritsar, Manali, and Chandigarh.

By Rail: Nearest broad gauge railway station to Kufri is at Kalka. There is a meter gauge railway station at Shimla though. From Delhi, you can take a train to Kalka that features several tunnels on the route with one being 1.2 km long. At Kalka, you can catch a toy train to Shimla, which is much closer to Kufri.

By Air: Nearest airport to Kufri is at Shimla, 19 km away. Shimla airport has daily flights to and from New Delhi, Chandigarh and Kullu.
