Built in the 16th century by a valiant cousin of Maharana Pratap - Thakur Jaimal of Sisodia dynasty, Bassi Fort now belongs to the Chundawat clan of Rajputs. Several ancestors of the present head of the family Rawat Sahib Kesri Singh Ji have laid down their lives for Mewar and the Fort of Tragedies at Chittorgarh. The Chittaurgarh Fort has several legends of heroism, loyalty and sacrifice that bog down the aura of the place to this day.
